“Reading is a vacation for the mind” – Dave Berry
As you all know by now, I love to read. According to Goodreads, I read over 150 books last year alone. What you may not know is I also love to travel. I have spent the past few years living, travelling, and working abroad in Australia, Asia, and Europe.
I love living like locals as well as seeing all the touristy things when I am somewhere new so I tend to spend a longer time in one place than most so I can get a good feel for the city. I also love the downtime of traveling and being able to stumble across a cool park or lounge on the beach with my constant companion, my kindle.
I was actually suppose to be moving to Costa Rica late Summer 2020, but with Covid 19 spreading, that is no longer in the cards. I also have high risk family members, so we are taking the virus very seriously and working to protect ourselves and others. With that, no vacations for me, so as you can imagine, I am going a bit stir crazy.
One of my favorite ways to escape is to hang out in our backyard with my beach roll, umbrella, and a kiddie pool. Yes, really a kiddie pool, it is hot AF and we gotta cool off somehow haha. While this is not the same as reading on the beaches of the Philippines or the unique cafes in Vietnam, I am working with what I have and it gets me out of the house more. P.S. do you like my Kindle case? I think it accurately sums up my interests.
I am currently working on rereading the Hive Trilogy by Leia Stone and Jaymin Eve so I will probably be finished with it in a few days and have some book reviews up for you. In the mean time, tell me your favorite places to read and how you are getting creative in the wake of a global pandemic.
Your kindle case is lovely lol. I like reading before bed since I have found it is a nice way to wind down and prevents me from having screen time before bed.
