The Queen (Wicked Novella #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The King must have his Queen….

Bestowed the forbidden Summer’s Kiss by the King of the Summer fae, Brighton Jussier is no longer just human. What she is, what she will become, no one knows for sure, but that isn’t her biggest concern at the moment. Now Caden, the King, refuses to let her go, even at the cost of his Court. When the doorway to the Otherworld is breached, both Brighton and Caden must do the unthinkable—not just to survive themselves, but also to save mankind from the evil that threatens the world

Well, I was a bit disappointed by this book to be honest. This is super unfortunate because Armentrout is one of my favorite authors. I think the second book in the series, The King, was great and really left off on a bit of a cliffhanger, that set up well for this book. Unfortunately, it didn’t follow through.

I get that it is a novella, and therefore shorter, but the plot was completely nonexistent, like literally, there was no plot. The main characters kept secrets from each other, which I expressed my disdain for this trope in my Book Tropes I Hate post, and that was it. That was what the entire book was based on.

This book should have been an epilogue of the previous book and gotten rid of all the mess of characters keeping secrets from each other. I think that would have ended the series on a better note and not leave readers (or at least me) annoyed. Overall, I am happy to know how the characters story line concludes, but this book just felt like an afterthought and missed the mark. Thanks for reading. Let me know what you guys think of the book, or if I am just being over critical.
