White Mask (The Sworn Saga #4) by Kate Avery Ellison
Red Rider has escaped the Sworn capital, and now, she rescues Chosen girls under the code name Red Riding Hood and takes them through the wilderness to a secret city run by the Order of the Crimson. She leaves behind her calling card, a white mask, after every rescue.
Her alias, Red Riding Hood, is growing infamous across the land.
But Red longs for Kassian, who has either forgotten their love or is pretending he no longer loves her for her own protection.
When a Huntsman shows up looking to kill the Silver Wolf, Red finds herself torn between loyalty to helping the Chosen girls and her love for the one she can never have.
I have been waiting for this book to come out! I found this series after the first three books were already released, so I read those in pretty quick succession, then had to wait a bit for this release. At first, it was hard to get into the book with the amount of time that passed and I felt like this book was sort of a set up for the final book so not a whole lot happened. That being said, I did still enjoy this book.
Scarlet aka Red Rider is rescuing chosen girls from their fate as Sworn wives. She ends up somewhat between the Sworn and the Order of the Crimson and spends a majority of the book on the run. There are also quite a few time jumps in the book, i.e. 6 months later since she is doing the same thing for long periods of time. Typically, I am not a fan of the time jump writing style, however I think it worked and was necessary for this book.
Some crazy revelations are revealed at the end of the book and we see Scarlet try to cope and save those she loves. I am interested to see how it all works out in the next book because I don’t think the groundwork has been laid yet for a systematic change in the societal structure. Lots of the gains and ‘wins’ are somewhat on an individual level so I want to see how it works out with the Sworn. I also really want everything to work out with Kassian, so fingers crossed.
If you aren’t familiar with this series, I highly recommend you read it. It is somewhat of a Red Riding Hood fantasy retelling with a twist. This book is available on Kindle Unlimited. Let me know your thoughts if you’ve read it!
I’ve not heard of this before but it sounds interesting. Great review!

It’s pretty interesting. Like a fantasy cross between red riding hood retelling and the handmaid’s tale!
