Life Update!

Hello everyone! Sorry I have been so inactive lately. If you didn’t know or don’t remember from a previous life update post, I joined AmeriCorps NCCC last November. With this program, we sign up for a year of service, and essentially, we are sent to anywhere in the US to do various community service projects that are in high need.

For the first few months, we were contact tracing for Covid-19, so we worked from our rooms and had lots of free time. A few weeks ago, we were sent on a new project to Woodland Park, CO where we are working with Habitat for Humanity to build houses, and working with local organizations such as Camp Lion and a church.

With this work, we have some pretty long and often physically taxing days. And we are in the lovely mountains, so on our days off we have been doing lots of hiking! (see below).

That all being said, I have not had time to actually work on my blog and read all of your posts that I usually love reading! Also, our housing is pretty secluded so we have very unreliable service and Wi-Fi. In fact, a couple days ago, a big snowstorm came through and knocked it out completely (I know, first world problems)! Thankfully, our heat and electricity were still going so we were safe.

We have been on site long enough where everyone is starting to settle in, so hopefully I can get back to blogging and engaging with everyone again! All the posts over the last month has been queued up from January, so if it seems like I’m ignoring you, I promise it’s not intentional, and I’ll be back up soon! Thanks for your patience and understanding!
